April is National Poetry Month
Do you like to read? Do you like to rhyme?
Do you enjoy poetry all of the time?
Then April’s for you–it’s your month, my friend!
It’s Poetry Month from beginning to end.
That’s right: April is National Poetry Month. It’s a special month set aside for reading and writing poems of all kinds. Here at Oopsy Daisy, we love artistic expression–using art to let the world know what’s inside your head and your heart. All of our art is visual, of course, and a lot of it is art that uses words, too. We even have some poetry-based art! Come take a look and find something that will inspire your creativity and imagination, National Poetry Month and beyond.
Do you like to write poems? Why not celebrate National Poetry Month by writing a poem of your own? Here’s an idea: try a Haiku. A Haiku is a form of Japanese poem that has a total of 17 syllables: five in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. Haikus are often about nature, but you can write one about anything you want.
Why not find some art you like and write a poem about that? You can search our site by your favorite color, your favorite subject, or your favorite artist. Find a piece of art you like and write a Haiku about it.
Congratulations! You’re a poet!
